


Fantasy Puzzle Arena is a multiplayer match three game. Charge your fighter's attack meter by matching blocks. The more blocks you break, the faster your attack meter will fill. Breaking more than 3 blocks will award the player a small combo bonus. Perform chains to increase your attack energy quickly.
There is a strength and weakness system in the game. Each tile type corresponds to an element and your attack corresponds to the element you have matched the most. There are four fighter types as well that determine which elemental attack they are strong and weak to.
For this project I stepped away from the game engine and focussed more on the gameplay design. I worked on the attack and match three puzzle mechanics and iterated on them after player feedback. Even though it wasnt required to be implemented completely for this project I also designed a monetization model that could be incoorperated into the game that would have users earn or purchase in-game currency to unlock additional fighters and tiles sets.
On top of that I learnt the basics of pixel art for this project and created most of the tile sets, fighters and game logo for the game, including animating them using spritesheets.
