Unreal Engine 4 & Facility

My first introduction to the Unreal engine was part of level design course that focused on creating a map and game flow level design document as a proposed DLC expansion for an existing game. We were then tasked with creating a game prototype based off those documents using Unreal Engine 4.

I selected Starcraft Brood War as the game to base my project on, inspired from my high school days where I would create maps and missions in the campaign editor.

Here is my level design document for my proposed mission

The game that I ended up creating I called ‘Facility’ as the idea is that you are tasked with making your way through a research facility to find the Data Disk and killing the enemies along the way.

Feel free to play the prototype of Facility, you can download it from my itch.io page here.

While developing Facility, I learned such things as how to create a health bar, create blueprints with Unreal’s visual scripting, control a character using the mouse pointer, using a navigation mesh and more.
